Dawn whats the best way to get the backbone out of the sardine fish? Do I take the head off or cook it like they do here with it on? Isnt it a Mediterranean fish?

Hi Annie Please take the head off...I say that because the first time I ordered fish here they brought just that...lol..lol..the entire fish...I cant eat anything that is staring back at me...lol..lol..

Sardine fish is very popular throughout Europe....Its an oily fish and very high in Omega 3 so very good for you...Sardines were named after the Mediterranean island of Sardinia.

To prepare cut that head off...now many shops do sell it without the head so you might look around...Sure many do it different but I turn it on its belly on a cutting board...take your thumb starting at the top and press the backbone down moving down the fish..then turn it over and the bone will be visible then just pull it off...removes very easy

The trip with the kids was wonderful...Kim deserves a set of combat boots as she is a trooper...six flights in two weeks...pregnant with some morning sickness still... also motion sickness...she didnt let anything stop her...We went from morning til night...kids were fabulous and it was adorable...Brandon who is 3 was asking to go to bed...he goes can I go to bed please...I used my good manners...I rolled...you know they had fun if they are asking to go to bed...lol..lol....Below is how tired my little man was
